Nabuco Advisory
Three continents. Five primary markets. One practice that has worked in all of them.
Where We Work
Nabuco Advisory operates where European companies most consistently encounter the gap between their assumptions and the local reality. These are not markets that can be navigated with standard European frameworks, generalist consultants, or translated templates.
Each market below is one where Nabuco Advisory brings direct experience — in the legal framework, the regulatory environment, the cultural dynamics, and the local partner network needed to move from intention to execution.
"The navigator's value is not in knowing the destination.
It is in knowing what lies between here and there."
South America's largest economy — and its most complex legal landscape
The Netherlands is Brazil's fourth largest export destination globally. Total bilateral trade reached €15 billion in 2023, concentrated in commodities, raw materials, and agri-business. Yet most Dutch companies enter without a legal guide who understands Brazilian corporate law, environmental licensing, and the regulatory realities of São Paulo, Mato Grosso, or the Amazon basin.
Brazil has its own bar association, its own contract law framework, its own foreign investment rules, and its own environmental licensing system — none of which map cleanly onto European equivalents. Navigating it requires someone who has worked inside it.
Established jurisdictions for regional holding structures
Uruguay and Panama have long served as preferred jurisdictions for international holding companies, offering political stability and well-established corporate frameworks. For Dutch companies structuring investments across Latin America, these jurisdictions often provide an efficient legal entry point, coordinated with specialist tax advisors where fiscal structuring is required.
Africa's second largest oil producer — and a market rewriting its own rules
Angola's 2021 local content legislation fundamentally changed the calculus for foreign companies in the oil and gas sector. New rules on staffing, procurement, profit repatriation and joint venture structures require specialist navigation. Portuguese-language legal environment with a growing non-oil economy in agri-business and infrastructure.
LNG frontier — one of Africa's most significant energy discoveries
Mozambique's offshore LNG discoveries have made it one of the most watched energy markets in Africa. TotalEnergies, ENI, and ExxonMobil are active. Dutch companies in logistics, engineering, and services face a complex regulatory environment — SADC frameworks, Portuguese-language law, and an evolving extractives sector requiring careful structuring.
The world's largest cocoa producer — and West Africa's commercial hub
Abidjan is the financial capital of Francophone West Africa. Côte d'Ivoire sits under the OHADA legal framework — a harmonised commercial law system covering 17 states that is neither French law nor national law. Dutch agri-business and commodity companies entering this market need OHADA-fluent guidance from the start.
