Areas of Expertise

Where the legal judgment is sharpest

Built from two decades of practice, not from a textbook.

01

Cross-Border Legal Structuring

Multi-jurisdictional corporate structures for European companies entering Latin American and African markets. Identifying the right vehicle, the right sequence, and the right partners before the commitment is made.

02

Raw Materials & Energy Sectors

Direct experience from the energy sector, applied to the legal and regulatory complexity of commodities, agri-business, mining, oil and gas across Brazil, Angola and Mozambique.

03

Brazilian Corporate & Contract Law

OAB/SP-admitted. Deep familiarity with Brazilian corporate law, contract enforceability, foreign investment frameworks, and the realities of doing business in São Paulo and beyond.

04

OHADA & Francophone Africa

The Organisation for the Harmonisation of Business Law in Africa governs commercial activity across 17 Francophone states. Navigating it requires specialist knowledge. It is not French law. It is not national law.

05

ESG & CSRD Compliance

The EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive imposes reporting obligations across entire Global South supply chains. Most Dutch companies operating in Brazil and Africa are underprepared. This is a training and guidance mandate.

06

Training & Knowledge Transfer

Half-day and full-day workshops for commercial and legal teams. The same precision brought to the classroom at The Hague University — adapted for professional audiences in Dutch, English, Portuguese and French.

The Name

Why Joaquim Nabuco?

The practice is inspired by the memory of Joaquim Nabuco (1849–1910), Brazil's foremost diplomat, abolitionist, and Pan-Americanist. A man who operated fluently between Brazil, Europe, and the United States with one consistent spirit. Lawyer, statesman, writer, and the most cosmopolitan of Brazilians.

Nabuco spent years in London and Washington as Brazil's Ambassador, arguing Brazil's case before foreign audiences with authority and elegance. He understood, better than almost anyone of his era, that the world is navigated not by those who stay in one place, but by those who can move between worlds without losing themselves in any of them.

The name is a deliberate homage — and a statement of identity. Not a marketing device.

"A pátria não é uma raça, não é uma região — é uma alma, um espírito, uma comunhão de sentimentos."

Joaquim Nabuco · 1849–1910
Diplomat · Abolitionist · Pan-Americanist
